Youth Church History

In 1954 the Ephesus Church was expanding rapidly. The main sanctuary was always filled to capacity. The youth found it difficult to participate in the total ministry of the church. Something needed to be done. Pastor Willie Lee and several men and women of wisdom studied the situation and after many days the vision of establishing a Youth Church was born.

Elder Robert Carter, Associate Pastor of the Ephesus Church, in January 1955 met with Dorothy M. Hearon, Eula Gunther-Evans, Marvin Brown and Joseph Merriweather to plan and organize a Youth Church. The primary purposes were to provide wider opportunities for young people to grow spiritually and receive training for future leadership in the church.

The objective of the Ephesus Adventist Youth Society (AYS) is threefold: that the youth may work for other youth, their church, and their fellow men. AYS at Ephesus is the most creative worship experience at the Ephesus Church. AY programs range from drama’s, concerts, sing-a-longs, educational workshops and the list goes on. Join us weekly for a high-energy worship service.
